January 9 - January  30, 2015: ART EXHIBIT: Creative in Randolph
Location: Campbell House Galleries; 482 E. Connecticut Avenue , Southern Pines NC

Arts Council of Moore County is proud to present an art exhibit called "Creative in Randolph" from January 9-30, 2015. This publicly juried exhibition will feature Randolph County-based artists in association with the Randolph Arts Guild.

The Opening Reception for the exhibit will be Fri., January 9 from 6-8 p.m. The artwork will be on exhibit through January 30, weekdays
(9am-5pm), and on Saturday, January 17 (1-4pm). The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Location: Sandhills Horticultural Gardens - Ball Visitors Center; 3395 Airport Road , Pinehurst NC
The Sandhills Horticultural Society will host a pruning
workshop conducted by Moore County Extension agent Taylor Williams. Learn the
basics of pruning then go outside for a demonstration of how it is done. FREE

February 6 - March 9, 2015: 2015 YOUNG PEOPLE'S FINE ARTS FESTIVAL

Arts Council of Moore County is proud to present the 19th annual Young People's Fine Arts Festival featuring artwork from over 200
students from all Moore County schools, including public, private, charter and home schools.
A special awards ceremony for the high school students will be Friday, February 6 from 5:00-5:30 p.m. The public Opening Reception will be
Friday, February 6 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. The artwork will be on exhibit through March 9, 9 a.m. 5 p.m., weekdays, and on Saturday, February 21 from 1-4 p.m. Exhibit is free and open to the public.


February 9, 2015 (8:00 pm): CHAMBER MUSIC: Alexander String Quartet
Location: Sunrise Theater; 250 NW Broad St. , Southern Pines NC
The third concert in the 14-15 Classical Concert Series features ALEXANDER STRING QUARTET.
The Alexander String Quartet has performed in the major music capitals of five continents, securing its standing among the world’s
premiere ensembles. The group was formed in New York City in 1981 and captured international attention as the first American quartet to win the London International String Quartet Competition. The quartet has been performing in major halls throughout the world. They have also collaborated with some the finest musicians and composers, including Anne-Marie McDermott, Branford Marsalis, Lynn Harrell, and Aaron Copland.

Other concerts in series include: Anna Polonsky & Orion Weiss, 4-hand piano (9-29-14); Caroline Goulding, violin (11-17-14); Four

February 14, 2015: 2015 HEART 'N SOUL OF JAZZ
Location: Pinehurst Resort; 80 Carolina Vista Dr. , Pinehurst NC
In 1986, Heart ‘n Soul of Jazz burst onto the scene with a brilliant performance by vocalist Maxine Sullivan and North Carolina’s own Loonis McGlohon Trio. Originally called "Jazz ‘n January," Heart ‘n Soul of Jazz is a benefit for the Arts Council of Moore County and has
presented many talented jazz artists who have entertained thousands of jazz lovers for almost three decades.

For 2015...our 30th anniversary...Heart 'n Soul of Jazz will present 6-time Grammy nominee TIERNEY SUTTON and the fun and wild BUCK CREEK JAZZ BAND on Saturday, February 14 at 8 p.m. at Pinehurst Resort. The major sponsors for this fundraising event are American

The Pine Needles Invitational is in its 21st year and attracts some of the best amateur players. This 54-hole two-man team event is

March 2, 2015 (8:00 pm) CHAMBER MUSIC: Four Seasons in the Sandhills

The last concert in the 14-15 Classical Concert Series features a collaboration with the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, called
"Four Seasons in the Sandhills."

Four Seasons brings internationally-renowned musicians to North Carolina for concerts, master classes and interactive community outreach.
In residence at East Carolina University and founded 15 years ago by violinist Ara Gregorian, past performances of this unique collection of artists have included more than 135 concerts, over 300 master classes, two performances at Carnegie Hall and a six-concert tour of Israel.

After the great success of A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and the Cape Fear Regional Theatre once again partner for a memorable evening where music and theatre mix. This season, join us for our joint production of Amadeus, a play based on the 1984 critically acclaimed movie "Amadeus."


March 26 - March 29, 2015: PALUSTRIS ART FESTIVAL 2015

It's official! The Arts Council of Moore County is excited to announce the return of the Palustris Arts Festival on March 26-29, 2015, sponsored by the Wells Fargo Foundation. Headlined by the Steep Canyon Rangers (Friday, March 27; 7:30p; Lee Auditorium at Pinecrest High School), the 5th annual Palustris Arts Festival will present a variety of events showcasing the visual, literary and performing arts. Palustris will draw on the creativity of many arts groups in and around the Sandhills area and is sure to offer something for everyone!

March 27, 2015: PALUSTRIS CONCERT: Steep Canyon Rangers
Location: R.E. Lee Auditorium at Pinecrest High School; 250 Voit Gilmore Lane , Southern Pines NC
The Steep Canyon Rangers will headline the 5th annual Palustris Arts Festival on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at Lee Auditorium at Pinecrest High School. This concert is sponsored by the Wells Fargo Foundation and Our State Magazine.

From Asheville, NC, the Steep Canyon Rangers are an acoustic Bluegrass group. In 2013, the band won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album, and have won multiple awards from the International Bluegrass Music Awards, including Entertainer of the Year. In addition to touring with comedian/banjoist Steve Martin, the Rangers perform heavily at Bluegrass and Americana music festivals like MerleFest and Telluride. Abroad, the Rangers have performed in Sweden, Ireland, England, Germany, Switzerland, and Canada.
